'Buy Malaysia Campaign
‘Buy Malaysia’ Campaign
The ‘Buy Malaysia’ Campaign was first implemented in 1984 and reintroduced in 1998. Since the campaign is an awareness programme which demands continuous endeavours to cause a behavioural change in the people, the campaign was relaunched in 2009 and is continued to date this day.. This campaign aims to change the people’s perception on the Malaysian brand items and hence opt for them in their daily use. It could also stimulate domestic economic growth by increasing domestic consumption. This will simultaneously help local operators expand their marketing opportunities with the increase in the domestic demand.
Definition of “Malaysian Brand Items”
The definition for Malaysian Brand Items for the purpose of this campaign is “all products or services offered by companies owned by Malaysians who also own the brands”.
The implementation of the campaign involves two main approaches namely the implementation of the Buy Malaysian Products Expo and awareness campaigns through the mass media.
A total of 6 ‘Buy Malaysia’ Expositions is planned for 2012. The expo implementation schedule is as follows:
